Without a doubt one of my favorite things to do in life is pick up Colin from school. There are few things in life that bring me more joy then seeing his face light up and he giving me a running “jump hug.” When he does this I get filled with an overwhelming sense of love and acceptance.
Kids are great this way. The way they see the world is a real reminder on how us adults could and should live. They have not yet developed the filters that often led us adults into a state of judgment. For them it’s very simply. If you are nice to me… I like you. If you are mean to me… I question you. Any judgment kids have is based on how you treat them not what you look like, your skin color, or even how much money you make.
So my question for you is, “Does your face light up when you think about life?” What would it look like for you if you saw the world through the same eyes as a child? Would you see it differently?
Judgment is not a bad thing and the reality is it’s part of the human experience. What is more important is we become aware of how we see the world and then make changes accordingly.
So over the next week, take the time to check your perspective and change it into a state of wonderment and acceptance. If you switch how you see the world you’ll quickly notice how much more joy you will find. Go out there and live life to the fullest.
